The first-ever Porsche was built by hand. Good to know that some things never change.
The interior of the 911 Millennium has much in common with the first car we ever built. As in 1948, many interior components are crafted by hand. And fitted by hand. In our view, no machine will ever match the attention to detail and commitment to perfection of our craftsmen. Only they have the skill and care to detect and fix even the slightest inconsistency. And only they can understand what it means to drive a Porsche.
It takes many hours of skilled workmanship to prepare and fit the leather and wood trim inside the 911 Millennium.
Our natural brown leather has been carefully selected to meet the highest Porsche standards. Both in terms of its natural finish and its outstanding comfort and feel. Natural leather is used on the seats, dashboard, door panels, instrument cover, center console, steering column casing, PCM handset, central air vent mounting, Tiptronic S gear selector gate (where specified) and airbag module.
The dark burr maple featured in the 911 Millennium is cut by hand to produce a veneer that is barely one millimeter in thickness. The veneer is then handcrafted to fit the respective interior component before being sanded and varnished until it is perfect. Only then is the finished piece hand-fitted to your 911 Millennium. The following parts are finished in dark burr maple: gear lever or Tiptronic S gear selector, handbrake lever, three-spoke steering wheel, door handles and the lid of the door storage bin.
As the final stamp of exclusivity, each 911 Millennium features a chromium-plated plaque with its unique edition number on the forward section of the center console. |
